Perseverance is exploring a 28-mile-diameter (IT House note: about 45.06 kilometers) Martian crater called Jezero, which once had a large lake and a river delta billions of years ago. Perseverance is looking for signs of past life in this ancient environment and collecting dozens of samples to send back to Earth in the future.
